Ask Us DirectlyThe EU Blue Card is a work and residence permit designed for non-EU nationals with a recognised university degree and a job offer in an EU member state meeting the minimum salary threshold (currently €45,300 gross per year in Germany, or €41,041.80 for shortage occupations). It grants the right to live and work in Germany for up to four years and can serve as a pathway to permanent residence after just 21 months (with B1 German language skills).
Processing times vary depending on the German consulate in your country and the completeness of your application. In most cases, processing takes between 3 and 6 months. The spouse of an EU Blue Card holder is typically entitled to a residence permit for employment without restrictions — our team can expedite the preparation of your application to minimize waiting times.
Germany's revised Nationality Act (Staatsangehörigkeitsgesetz), effective since June 2024, now generally permits dual and multiple citizenship. If you have held a lawful permanent residence permit for at least five years, have not been convicted of serious offences, are financially self-supporting, and have a good command of German (B1 minimum), you may be eligible for naturalisation while retaining your existing citizenship.
The standard documents include: valid passport, biometric photo, completed application form, employment contract or binding job offer, proof of professional qualifications (academic degrees and translations), proof of health insurance, and proof of accommodation in Germany. Some permit categories require additional documentation such as salary statements, language certificates or employer declarations. We provide you with a customised checklist for your specific case.
